Chanimal is NOT an advocate of detailed business planning (a business plan) for anyone but the largest partners (that have a full marketing department).
Partners don’t like to create them, Channel Managers don’t like to read them–and nobody likes to follow them.
Instead, it is recommended to create a Plan of Action, created with the partner every quarter, showing one thing to do per month to promote the product. If your partner works with 20 vendors–you’re fortunate to get even one promotion per month!
The Chanimal Partner Portal includes an example page, a business plan of action templates, an agenda, instructions, and videos on how to create these. They should be completed with the partner and then attached to the account within your CRM, and the monthly action item follow-up added to your CRM calendar.
